What is Newsworthy? Crucial elements of a press release for an effective public relations campaign - New product, revised delivery of, or new version of, repackaging of. Anything new that is happening in the company, product, service or your industry that relates to you. "New" can be up to one year, dependent upon what it is.

- New projects, new divisions within company. This can include plans for new projects, etc. also. The plans must be pretty firm and have some facts confirming commitment to the plan.
- Unique product or service. Is there something your company does that no other company does? Why? How has it been received by your customers? What are the benefits to your customers?
- Company performance, growth, profits, expansion, physical move, grand openings, division expansions. This includes acquisition of new accounts, or big contracts or sales.
- Personnel changes, promotions, new departments, division/department expansions. New hires in management only.
- Fast growth, overcoming obstacles, personal stories, success stories.
- Guest columns, articles, feature speakers, experts in industry. Anyone in the company interested and who has the time, can write guest columns, or be pitched as an industry expert to the media.
- Awards won by company. Look to industry associations, regional and national organizations. Consider joining some. Awards, ratings or reviews of product, company or service.
- News related to current events. For newspapers, scour headlines and look for anything that is relevant to your industry or company. Review editorial calendars.
- For periodicals, review existing articles for content, and direction of stories. Try to see what the editors/writers are interested in, and what they are writing about. Review editorial calendars.
